BOONDOGGLE 2013: KARS Park, Merritt Island, FL

Another Kayak Fishing Boondoggle has come and gone, and this one will certainly go down in the record books as a huge success. Sponsored by Yakangler.com and Kayak Fishing Radio, the event saw more than three hundred attendees descend upon KARS Park, located on Merritt Island on Florida’s Space Coast.

Scientists Investigate Boondoggles

Breaking news, scientists have discovered the migration patterns of a group of kayak fishermen known as YakAnglers. The first documented case of this migration was back in February 2011, when kayak fishermen from around the country migrated south descending on a small area in Jacksonville Florida know as Little Talbot Island. At first scientists thought this was an isolated event but soon noticed a pattern.

2011 My Year in Review

As the year comes to a close, I decided to sit back and take a look at the year that was 2011.  The year really started in the last few months of 2010 for me when I really started to get involved in on-line fishing forums, especially YakAngler.com.   This led me to launch YakFish.net with the help of YakSushi Media in January.

What's New With Kayak Fishing Radio

KayakFishingRadio has grown over the past few months and we look for more growth and development in our broadcasts in the near future! I want to first give my thanks to the anglers who listen and download the broadcasts for the support and interest that is really important to me and the other Hosts of KayakFishingRadio! Thanks also to YakAnglers Mark and Adam are really great friends, and without whom I probably wouldn’t have got the spark that ignited KFR!

Mosquito Lagoon: The Sequel Day 2

I know it seems crazy to sojourn across the state of Florida, lose out on sleep, sustain yourself on trail mix and those little peanut butter crackers just to get together with good friends and chase fish around in little plastic boats.

But, whoever thinks it’s crazy to do such things, hasn’t had the opportunity to fish Mosquito Lagoon with two of the best kayak fishing guides on the east coast of Florida.

Mosquito Lagoon: The Sequel

In the movie business, if a studio releases a blockbuster movie, you can bet the house that a sequel is being planned before the movie ends its run in the theater, because the sequel is going to bring in dividends 40-60 percent of the original, and in that line of work, that’s pretty good business.

Well, the same goes for fishing trips with the Yakangler/Kayak Fishing Radio Crew. Before you could get the mud washed off your kayak and your gear put away after our triumphant return from Mosquito Lagoon during the Presidents Day Boondoggle, another trip to “The ‘goon” was being planned.

The Mist and The Lagoon

They say 3:00 AM comes early but, they must have never fished at Mosquito Lagoon….

Chip woke me at 3:00 AM. We had loaded up all of our kayaks and gear the night before. I was sleeping in the clothes I was going to wear anyway, so all I had to do was roll out of bed, make a run to the bathroom, and brush my teeth.
