The Vikings Are A-comin'

Last month, we re-posted Kayaking Canuck’s photo of their two Viking Kayaks “Profish Reloads” and couldn’t believe the response it got from our US-based readers. Comments like “SLICK, I wish they were available in the States” and “That is a machine!! Where can I get one?” followed the release. We spoke with Viking Kayaks shortly after the post, and they told us they had yet to finalize anything in the US.

Aussies take the first annual Diawa Hobie World Kayak Fishing Tournament. It should be no surprise that the Aussies took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in an event held on their home waters what was a surprise was how well Jose Chavez did. Jose led the tournament after the first day of fishing but slipped to 4th by tournaments end. Scott Baker of Mornington Victoria Australia took first being crowned the first Diawa Hobie Kayak Fishing World Champion, Jason Meech took second, and Kevin Winchester took third.

Josh Holmes

It's hard to search kayak fishing on YouTube and not run into one of his videos.  Weather it's him trying to outrun a great white shark, dodging breaching humpback whales, or his more recent War On Fish series Josh Holmes aka Yakass is a true YakAngler!  Josh has fished the waters off the east coast of Australia for over 10 years and logged over 12,000 miles on Hobie  pedal-powered kayaks.

We got a chance to ask Josh a few questions and this is what he had to say.
