I like shortcuts to make things easier. I like having a backup plan if things don't go the way they should. I'm a kayak fisherman, and I have to make things simple and accessible. I created the following video to show you how I tie a clinch knot more quickly than most (I did it more slowly than usual in the video so you could follow it easily). The improved clinch knot will work the same way.

Maruto Semi-Barbless Hooks

For months now Oregon Dept of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW), and Washington Dept of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) have been having a hard time deciding whether or not they should prohibit barbed hooks on Columbia River. WDFW banned them initially, but just changed their mind the other week. ODFW is still talking about it.
