Hobie recently revealed the latest addition to their fleet in the form of the all-new Mirage Lynx.

This kayak is a sleek, lightweight, and rugged platform designed by Hobie for anglers who specifically want something they can load and launch at a moment’s notice. This meant that Hobie pulled out all the stops to minimize the weight of the Mirage Lynx. The result is that the 11’ long by 36” wide Lynx has a hull weight of just 45 pounds while still boasting a carrying capacity of 350 pounds.

Not only is the Lynx easy to transport, but it is also rugged, fast, and very stable. Hobie describes it as a hard-shell spin-off of their proven inflatable 11 design. It features ACE-TEC construction for rigidity and durability, along with a removable rudder system for optimal steering control. In addition, the Lynx uses a premium MirageDrive 180 propulsion system with Kick-Up Fin technology. This means that the Lynx allows forward and reverse pedaling, even in shallow water. This kayak has a V-hull entry and wide bow for ultimate maneuverability, along with an innovative waterflow tunnel system. According to Hobie, this design is perfect for pushing back into areas that are inaccessible to others, such as shallow pockets, mangroves, stick-ups, lilies, and reeds. Anglers also have their hands free at all times for casting.

Morgan Promnitz, Hobie’s Director of Fishing Development, describes the Mirage Lynx as a fun and practical kayak. He added that it is an excellent option for pursuing inshore species, such as redfish, snook, sea trout, stripers, bluefish, summer flounder, and other sporty or tasty fish species. Promnitz also believes that freshwater anglers will find it an ideal platform for chasing bass, trout, walleye, pike, and panfish. Furthermore, Promnitz praised the Lynx as perfect for anglers who take a minimalist approach to loading gear.

The versatility of the Lynx means it is H-Crate-ready and offers Bungee tie-downs for additional bow storage. It has scupper holes for a live well or live bait tank and can accommodate fishing electronics and a Power-Pole anchor system. The flat profile of the Lynx even allows anglers to stack one on top of another for transport. Hobie designed the Mirage Lynx with a low profile for added stability, while the elevated and breathable mono-mesh fabric seat improves visibility. The molded-in tracks make it easy to mount accessories, and it even has an EVA standing pad.

The Hobie Mirage Lynx is available in Two-Tone Golden Papaya and Dune colors at a retail price of $2,699. Check out the dealer locator feature at www.hobie.com for an authorized Hobie dealer closest to your location.
