Shimano Enters the Action Camera Market

On February 3, Shimano announced that they will be entering the sports action camera market with their “CM 1000 Sport Camera”. This camera has Wi-Fi capability that integrates with an iOS or Android application. This camera is waterproof to 30 feet (IPX-8 rated), and has an IPX5 dustproof rating. For those in the cold, the camera can operate at 14°F.

Garmin, probably best known for GPS systems, is gaining attention with two new offerings in the action camera market. The “VIRB” and “VIRB Elite” offer sought-after options and a few new twists that make them unique in the current market.

New Buzz in the Action Camera Market

A new camera company has emerged in the action camera market and their latest offering is creating a lot of buzz in the kayak fishing industry. WASPcam, based in Canada, has pushed the envelope in feature and price with two new offerings that launched January 15.

Rigging your kayak for a day of fishing

You are going out on a nearby lake or pond, and need to rig your kayak for the numerous possibilities that might occur while paddling and casting for your favorite fish. By now you have a kayak that fits your type of fishing, and you are able to transport it easily to the water. Kayak Camera Mounting Options

Since experimenting with numerous methods of mounting cameras onto the kayak for the various videos I've been compiling, I've been through several options in an effort to arrive at the most suitable options for my needs. It was only recently that I dumped pretty much every other option I'd tried for an alternative system, though I'm yet to actually demonstrate it, or show the results. The next episode of Yakass Coastal kayak Fishing will demonstrate my new system nicely though and keen eyes will spot the difference immediately.

My New Camera For Kayak Fishing

I just placed the order for a new point and shoot camera.  The one I use right now is crap, and it’s only waterproof when I keep it in the zip lock bag.  The D10 has a waterproof housing that keeps it safe from cold as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit, from drops of up to 4 feet, and from water down to depths of 33 feet.
