SWFKAA Inshore Kayak Classic

The SWFKAA Inshore Kayak Classic is expecting double last year’s tournament attendance. I like shortcuts to make things easier. I like having a backup plan if things don't go the way they should. I'm a kayak fisherman, and I have to make things simple and accessible. I created the following video to show you how I tie a clinch knot more quickly than most (I did it more slowly than usual in the video so you could follow it easily). The improved clinch knot will work the same way.

Tails of the Troll

There is something about this time of year that gets my blood flowing! Could it be the leaves changing colors? Maybe… Could it be the deer are chasing and the ducks are flying? Maybe… Or could it be the fact that the fish are hungry and starting to put on their feed bag for winter? Hmm, maybe! One thing is for certain, though: it's fall, and I LOVE IT!

While talking with a good friend the other day, I realized that it had been over a year since I had fished the good afternoon outgoing tides we have this time of year in Tampa Bay. I had regularly fished these tides at my local park, but since they increased the fees for an after-hours pass, I just haven’t gotten out.

Fighting Cold and Wind, is it Worth it?

My last two trips have been very tough due to cold temperatures and strong winds. These are conditions a lot of kayak fisherman try to avoid; I've been guilty of this myself. High winds definitely annoy me more than cold temperatures. Wind can really limit your presentations and make it next to impossible to keep boat position.

Shark Drags Kayak Fisherman Out To Sea

6 ft Shark drags 51 year old Rupert Kirkwood and his kayak out to sea. Kayak fishing off the coast of Llfracombe, North Devon UK, Kirkwood drifted his mackerel bait for about 4 hours prior to getting slammed by the shark.

Grand Launching of X-Fish SUF:
