Top kayak anglers gathered on Pine Island and Matlacha to launch into the early morning light for the annual Pine Island Classic kayak tournament by the Kayak Fishing ClassicS.

2014 Kayak Angler's Choice Awards Finals

With two rounds of voting complete, each category in the Kayak Angler’s Choice Awards has been slimmed down to five finalists. The only kayak fishing- specific awards had over 4,500 unique votes cast last week, doubling last year's participation. The results are very close, with some finalists moving ahead by only a few votes.

Leave no Trace: Fishing

While attending the recent Outdoor Retailers summer trade show, I came across a plethora of “Leave no Trace” (LNT) cards related to different outdoor activities. As soon as I spotted the “Fishing” card, I grabbed it and tucked it away into my field notes booklet; I knew I had to write an article about LNT.


The first round is complete, and the Kayak Angler's Choice Awards now moves into Round Two with the top 50% of vote getters in each category and the top fifty anglers. Participants at 5,300+ unique IP addresses voted for their favorites in each of the ten kayak fishing categories.

Central Indiana Kayak Anglers Tournament

On April 26, 2014 Central Indiana Kayak Anglers will host it's second tournament at Eagle Creek Reservoir in Indianapolis. All of the proceeds from this event will go to benefit the Indiana Chapter of Heroes on the Water.

Mid-January Fishing in the Midwest

In this part of The US, early January brings the fishing and boat shows to town. With sub-zero temperatures and a couple of feet of snow on the ground, it will be nice to start thinking about getting on the water again. Bluegrass Yakmasters Classic

On October 26, 2013, kayak anglers descended upon Cedar Creek Lake in Stanford, KY for the inaugural two-day Bluegrass Yakmasters Classic. Twenty five participants made the journey, having qualified for the tournament by fishing a minimum of five out of a possible eight regular season tournaments. Cedar Creek Lake is renowned for producing trophy fish and is considered by many to be one of the best bass fishing lakes in the state.

2013 Kayak Angler's Choice Awards Finals

After two rounds of voting, the top nominations for Kayak of the Year, Kayak Fishing Forum of the Year, Paddle of the Year, Kayak Angler of the Year, and more have been selected by the community. 2,754 unique votes and fewer nominees made this round extremely close. Some finalists made it into this last KACA round by as few as two votes.
