Today I took the two hour drive from Louisville to Frankfort to attend Canoe Kentucky's newest monthly educational series “Tips From A Kayak Fishing Pro”.  This month’s class was lead by Tommy Puckett a Canoe Kentucky Pro Staffer and local Kentucky fishing guru. Many Kentucky Kayak Fishing and YakAngler.com members were there showing their support for Canoe KY and the great sport of kayak fishing.

Tommy was great, discussing everything from the basics of picking and using different types of fishing rods to rigging and terminal tackle.

He showed the class his preferred baits and techniques for fishing the waters of the Ohio River valley and also covered basic knot tying.

The large turnout for Canoe Kentucky’s initial kayak fishing class shows why kayak fishing is one of the fastest growing sports in the outdoor industry.

Great write-up and a great turn out for our first class! I was so thrilled that on a grey, chilly day in March we had so many people talking about kayak fishing!

We had a great time, it was good to meet and network with our Yakangler friends.

Yes it's always great when you can put a face to a username! Was great meeting everyone, and seeing old friends!

We'll have to do something soon, this weather HAS to break into a nice day before too much longer. The cold weather hasn't been stopping me much, but it's nicer when you don't have to worry so much about hyper thermia! lol :sigh:
