So this is a bit over a month away now. I did not see much discussion about this even on the forum here. Is all the talk somewhere else or on a Facebook group page?

Anyone planning on making the trip there this year?

It is a touch over 8 hours away down I75 for me so not a bad drive. Not sure yet if I can make the trip but it looks like it would be fun to try.

Looking at targeting the Suwannee bass in the Santa Fe River.

You will not be able to fish in the campground park.

The water temp stays at a constant 72 degrees.

Beside Suwannee bass there is largemouth and bream. Maybe other things.

The Suwannee is about 75 miles long flowing east to west. This area is pristine, there might an opportunity to observe deer, otters, brown water snakes, and Florida cottonmouths. The most dangerous creature might be seen is between the stretch of the river between US27 and SR47. There is an unusual individual that has gained notoriety by living naked on the river. He is referred to as 'Naked Ed'.

I hope that we get some local to provide some information on fishing this area. If not we can always ask 'Naked Ed'.

I'd love to go but 1200 miles from WI is too far to make it a weekend trip for me driving.

Coincidentally, my dad actually has a place in Ormond Beach ~2hrs away & has yaks at my disposal. Jeez, I could fly into Jacksonville...maybe I need to rethink this to fly and fish...

I almost committed to this trip. Hopefully there will be a boondoggle in the same area next year at around the same time. Planning a 1 month stay in Central Florida next year.

According to the website is says Presidents day and Columbus day every year so February and October. The location moves year to year but they all are in the Southeast, shouldn't be to far from North/Central Florida.

onefastrph even if you decide to fly the folks on this site have taken extra kayaks along when we know that someone will need to use one for the weekend.

I have done this before and it works out great.

So anyone else that is thinking about flying just post a request here or on the Facebook page and your request will come true.

Note that we have actually done two Boondoggles in the central time zone. So my guess is that we have had them in the south-central besides the southeast. There had been a rumor that a future Boondoggle might be heading to Canada someplace but so far that is what it is.

Oooh, would love to do Canada or WI/MN northwoods. My crazy idea of flying in is starting to sound less crazy. Got the OK from my dad for that weekend. Also happens to be my birthday weekend which makes a good excuse. Let me see what I can do.

Hey there, fellows, I was doing some research on kayaking in Florida and I found this thread. I live in NJ now but I recently bought a condo unit at the Sabbia Beach Condos in Pompano Beach, FL. I've been living a pretty fast-paced life in the last few years and I just couldn't resist making this paradise my home for my retirement days. From what I've read here, this event sounds like a lot of fun and I'd very much like to participate. However, I won't be moving to Florida until next year so I wanted to as you whether is normally done every year. Thanks and have a nice weekend!
