Okay, so my buddy Brad has been talking about a pedestal seat for the kayak. I have been brushing him off for quite a while but yesterday got a bit of a wild hair and decided to give it a shot.

Here is a sneak peak.

I took it out last night for a little bit and didn't get wet but I have to work on the stability issue a little as you can see in the video

I made the swivel for the seat out of an extra speed bag swivel that I had. Once I fine tune it a bit I'll get a few photos of the assembly process.

I may end up lowering the seat a bit to help with the stability. I also thought about fabricating some outriggers.

That's one of the few kayaks I know of that could handle something that tall...

Looks like a bus driver's seat. Can you mount a fake steering wheel in front? LOL!

I must confess, I was waiting for the big splash too! That's a great idea though. I've been thinking about outriggers anyway for when I'm using the sail since the wind has already flipped me 3 times. With the seat I'd have 2 reasons for needing them.

Occasionally I've been sitting on a small cooler that sits in the kayak seat. Its about a foot tall and offers a little bit better vantage point and makes for extremely easy entry and exit when in the skinny water. I would imagine a seat at around that height would be perfect. I'm in a little 9ft OK Frenzy and still have plenty of stability at that height.
