Dont believe everything you read

I researched and read and read and read and kept coming back to the Jackson Cruise 12. I fly fish so I was quite interested in something stable. I read several reviews stating this kayak is slow. This is not a slow kayak! I think the skill of the paddler is likely the culprit for those that have that complaint. I've been on slow kayaks before and this one is much faster. And I've been on speedy kayaks as well, so I know the difference. This one is somewhere in the middle. Tracking is just fine.....no issues at all. Again, this all depends on whether you're a fisherman that attempts to paddle or you a paddler that attempts to fish. I can stand and cast rather easily on this boat, but I'd rather sit. The storage is off the charts. I opened the hatch in the front and it basically goes about six feet in. No problem putting rods inside or sleeping bags. The only thing I wish it had was a couple more features, but I'll add my own. It does have a GoPro mount and it came with a rod holder that was easily mounted. The seat is 100 times better than most out there. I got a sweet deal on this boat as I purchased an used 2015 model in 2016. Jackson is the iPhone of kayaks. You really can't go wrong.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
Stable, storage, tracks well, this is not a slow kayak.
Cons:
Lack of accessories and mounts

great kayak

About the Skype a while back and I've used it almost every day, I was expecting it to be not as stable as it is. I went down some pretty large rivers including the South Holston in Bristol Tennessee, the South Holston Lake, Watauga River, Watauga lake, the DOE River. It has done very well everywhere I have taken it. Yesterday I paddled a total of 10 miles, I figured I would be wore out but it really was not bad at all. I would definitely recommend that Jackson cruise 12

Pros & Cons

Pros:
stable, fast for a 12 footer, can stand fairly comfortable once you get the feel for it. it is also easy to maneuver

Jackson Cruise 12-my first yak

This is my first kayak purchase. I do some fly fishing so wanted to get a stable kayak with some room and maybe be able to stand up in. I've only had it out twice and the first time was to just paddle around. Second trip I did some fishing and I was able to fly fish pretty well without needing to stand up. I love being able to put the seat in the high position if needed but I mainly keep it in low. I feel like I can move faster in the low position. I'm not that experienced so it seems a little slow when I really paddle hard but I really won't be doing much of that anyway. It could also be the paddle as I'm just using a basic one for now.

Seat is very comfy, yak is very stable. Will be adding two rod holders when they arrive today. Had to order the Ram tough ball mounts to accommodate those but looking forward to using them. Next up will be to decide on installing an anchor trolley and paddle keeper.

I ordered it from Appomattox River Co. online and got a good deal. It's pretty bare bones but that's what I was looking for.

Being my first kayak, I am very pleased so far and can't wait to take it out some more soon.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
Stable, open deck
Cons:
A little slow

Jackson Cruise 12

Chose Cruise because I wanted the lawn chair seat and a clean deck. It is very stable . I use seat in high position 90% of time. Easy access to front part of inside when customizing. Has a huge tankwell. I carry standard crate and medium size ice chest in the tankwell with room to spare. The seat is worth the price. There is no access to back half of inside of kayak. It is a great fishing kayak that allows you to customize it as you like.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
Great seat, no flush mount rod holders
Cons:
none

Great stability!!!

I love the simplicity of the kayak. Not much to get snagged on and has a good amount of room. I do like the high low seat, when I am taking my time and don't need to paddle too fast the seat will be on the high position so I can see a little bit more or if I want to go faster and be a bit more stable I can sit in the low position. Sometimes ill use it as paddle board and stand up. Ill stand up and cast from it and can easily see in the water.
It is a little wide and the bottom is squared off so its not the fastest kayak but the kayak is not for speed its meant for stability. I have even taken it out on the ocean a few times.
If you have the Jackson Cuda the Cruise is very similar too it except that it does not come with as many modifications on it. Also part of the reason I bought it because its like a blank sheet of paper. You can customize it anyway you want to.
The Cruise is also pretty durable. Iv been slammed into oyster bars and jetties in it. Granted the bottom is covered in oyster rash and scratches along with some good scratches on the sides. But the plastic is thick and durable.
I love this kayak. Personally I have only owned 3 kayaks but this is my favorite so far. Feels like a tank.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
Great Stability, lots of room, love the simplicity of it.
Cons:
not very fast
