Lifeproof Case and Lifejacket for the iPhone

I have been using the Lifeproof Case & Lifejacket for about a year now and cannot find anything negative about it. The tether that came with it is very useful for attaching it to the kayak and leaving the iPhone in the open where it can be reached anytime I need to use it. It has a clasp at both ends of the lanyard so if you just want to remove the phone and not the lanyard you have that option.

Lately I find myself using my iPhone to take pictures for Kayak War submissions, instead of my waterproof digital camera. Getting it full of fish slime isn't a problem because I just rinse it off in the water after using it. The convenience of having my phone nearby is great for answering phone calls, emails, or texts, especially when I am fishing during work hours (self employed) and need to address any issues that come up.

I still see many anglers on the water without protection for there cell phones and probably will continue to use their phones until they drop it in the water like I did just over a year ago.

Can't get better than this

I got this case for my iPhone 5 and there couldn't have been a better case than this one. My phone is totally protected. This case is not bulky at all. It's not ugly. There are lots of color options. I am a welder and work in a dirty environment. With this case I am assured that my phone will stay safe and clean. So far no metal shavings or dust have gotten into my case to my phone. I'm too scared to drop it into the water so that test will have to wait.

Lifeproof

My first Lifeproof case came from an amazon dealer and I was a bit disappointed. It was waterproof and thin enough to slide into my pocket but the camera lens was horrible, and the rubber sides were more like plastic and near impossible to push down buttons. Eventually, that case broke and I decided to give other companies a look.

Then, a friend of mine was using a Lifeproof case and I noticed that while it looked the same, it wasn't. The sides were made of rubber and it just worked much better overall than my previous case. So I went ahead and bought another, but this time in person.

I couldn't be more pleased. Even the lens for the camera doesn't interfere with the quality of the pictures. The only downside would be that because the speakers are covered, it can make it hard to hear whoever you may be talking to. But, it's not a major issue.

Lifeproof for iPhone and iPad

I have had the Fre model for my iPhones for the past 2 years and I love them. I love being able to use my phone while out on the water without worrying about the elements or dropping it overboard (I also have the orange foam floating case). Instead of packing my phone in a dry bag and using a waterproof camera for CPR tournaments, I just use the iPhone.

I also have the Nuud case for my iPad mini and it works just as great. Coupled with the foam float case, it is fantastic. When my 4 (soon to be 5) year old daughter and I go out for some daddy-daughter kayak fishing, it allows me to stay out a little longer than usual. When she gets tired of fishing, she can play some games or work on her "homework".

Two issues that I have noticed with the Fre case:
The case can sometimes muffle the speaker and microphone, making it hard for you to hear or others to hear you.
Also, the gasket can sometimes pop out when removing the phone from the case. I had issues with this on my case for iPhone 4S and 5S. I filled out a warranty claim both times, and both times I received a new replacement case.

Nothing Better on the Market

I travel a lot and my iPhone is essential for work. I cannot afford to lose the use of it by it getting wet when I am fishing. I've have a Red LiteProof Fre case for both an iPhone 4S and 5S from the day I bought them and not once have I had an issue on the water. The cases are smart and are very suitable for everyday use. My only complaint if you want to call it one is the need for the external headphone adapter, but I guess that's essential to maintain waterproof integrity. My next iPhone will have one of LiteProof's cases on it the day I buy it.
