with the weather heating up, so are the fish, bass are moving into the flats, along with the brim. bass have been hitting cranks, lipless cranks in shad colors, around points and ledges also for the topwater guys there have been a few areas of bass in budding lilly pads that have been slamming frogs fished slowly.
saltwater is slowly heating up, togs, and seabass are hitting hard offshore, and the reds are showing up around v.b. along with some doormat flounder being cought with large baits. hotspots right know are areas where the fish can literally be fed the bait, due to some fluctuating water temps.
personally, i have been hitting the bass hard, using topwater buzzbaits and frogs. many times the bass have been missing the bait and in subsequent casts seemed to be discouraged by the miss and wont hit again so i have been using a pitch bait, usually a jig or large senko to trigger a reaction strike. the reason for this is that it looks like even though they missed the bait they stunned it making it easier for them to eat it. when they missed, and i mean a complete miss, "set the hook" get the bait out of there then immediately throw the "pitch bait" right where it missed and hold on, cause there gonna tear it up.
with the month ending with a serious cold front hitting us right know, it might take till the beginning of next week for things to stabilize. get out there and go fishing in the commonwealth.
