johncochran Sorry. I wish I could join you. But, I won't leave the house until 2 pm tomorrow. I'll probably hit Taylorsville Lake again. I'm gonna' figure that lake out. I'm catching fish there. Just not the quality they should be. Good luck at Cedar Creek Lake.21 days ago
  • Does anyone, know if the military holds any kayak fishing events. I have been in the army for 6 yrs. Now and have not heard of anything, but I have been noticing more and more kayaks here at Ft. Knox. I talked 4 buddies into buying kayaks and they have just gotten addicted to it.
    groups.wall 24 days ago
Doc Robert I'll have to check into that. Ft Knox has a lot of little ponds/lakes. They are pretty good fishing. Thank you23 days ago

Kentucky Kayak Fishing

Our mission is to contribute to our community at both local and state levels through education, conservation, and commitment to our citizens and environment.

Our Vision

We invite all Kentucky Kayak Anglers to join us in promoting the growth and safety of our sport. Through increased awareness and diversity of the KKF we can develop our resources along with our significance as an agent of outreach. Our intent is to ultimately achieve our larger objectives:

-Advance kayak safety through education.

-Provide community outreach to the disadvantaged

-Foster a sense of responsibility for, and protection of our environment.

To our members,

We are in the process of restructuring the KKF! As you can probably tell by our mission statement, we want to see the club take some new directions. Through growth of our activities in our community we can ensure growth for our sport. Please help us in trying to not only make kayak fishing the best it can be in our state, but to help make our surroundings the best they can be as well.

Please keep an eye on the KKF page. Over the next few weeks there are going to be some invitations for ideas, discussions, and exciting new directions for our membership.
See you on the water!

I'd like to say thank you to the folks who have made it over to the KYKAYAKFISHING.ORG website. We've had some inquiries there from counties wanting to begin hosting their own KY Kayak Fishing Tournaments, and we've had a few people join that weren't a part of this forum.

To the members here that may not have made it to our official website yet, come on over, the water is fine! We have a water clean up project on the slate at McNeely Park in Louisville, and there's a kayak fishing tournament coming up at Lake Cumberland in a few weeks. We've also made some contacts to get the Wounded Warriors project closer to reality.

Don't forget, by joining the KKFA through the website you'll be able to take advantage of our membership discounts at CanoeKY, and River City Canoe and Kayak, plus you'll get a couple of lures from Kentucky-made Legal Limit Lures, and we're still looking for more sponsors to make it even more exciting.

Come to think of it, what could be better than Making Kentucky Better? Getting to do it through this sport we love just makes it that much sweeter. Together we can accomplish more!

John, I fished most weekends last year when the wind wasn't howling and the water wasn't iced over, and much like Pam I wore a rain suit over whatever I needed to keep warm. I'm mostly fishing ponds and lakes and I'm not too worried about falling in. My biggest concern is spray from my paddle, and of course the splashing the monster fish I'm catching... If I was going to be out on big water, or going to be miles from my vehicle I would probably go with chest waders and a dry top. Good luck.
