- Originally from Lexington Kentucky, graduated Lafayette High School and Eastern Kentucky University (BA, Journalism). Masters in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. US Marine Corps from 1979-2003, helicopter and fixed-wing pilot. Retired from active duty in 2003, but still work for US Marines in Okinawa Japan as a civilian. Married to Kaoru Komachi, with twin boys, Michael and Jeremy.
