Jason Broach, of Vero Beach, Florida, caught a redfish and speckled sea trout totaling 42.25 inches in combined length to win the IFA Kayak Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing event at Ruskin, Florida. on September 20. The event, hosted by Pirate's Pointe Resort and Little Harbor Marina, was the final regular-season event for the IFA Kayak Tour's Florida West Coast Division.

Fishing in the Bishop's Harbor area, Broach, a graduate student studying Fisheries and Aquatic Science, caught his tournament-clinching redfish on a bait recovered from a line he broke earlier in the day. The 22.5-inch redfish and 19.75-inch trout both came from Bishop's Harbor, giving the first-year kayak-tournament competitor with little searching to do during competition. With the win, Broach took home a Hobie Mirage Pro-Angler Kayak valued at $2,399 plus $200 for the largest speckled sea trout caught during the catch-photograph-release tournament.

Second-place finisher John Lee, of Sarasota, Fla., measured a 23.75-inch redfish and a 17.75-inch sea trout, giving him an aggregate score of 41.5 inches, utilizing a bevy of baits and presentations to land his fish. His second-place finish not only secured him a spot in the first-ever championship event for the IFA Kayak Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing, but also earned him a Hobie Mirage Outback Kayak, valued at $1,749.

Joshua Harvel, of Cape Coral, Fla., finished third with a 22.5-inch redfish and 17.75-inch trout, giving him an aggregate score of 40.25 inches, bringing him a Hobie Quest Kayak, valued at $949. In addition, his third-place finish at Ruskin combined with a win at Punta Gorda and a fifth-place finish in Sarasota earlier in the season gives Harvel the Florida West Coast Division Points Championship in 2010. In addition to qualifying for the tour's championship event, Harvel will also receive free entries in the kayak tournament division of his choice in 2011.

Sixth-place finisher, Jason Stock, took home the $200 award for the largest redfish caught during competition for his 27-inch catch.

Each of the Cabela's IFA Redfish Tour 18 regular-season events will commence on Saturday with the newly formed IFA Kayak Fishing Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing contested the following day (Sundays). In its inaugural season, the IFA Kayak Fishing Tour Presented by Hobie will feature 18 regular-season, catch-photograph-release events across six different division (mirroring the IFA Redfish Tour format, location and scheduling) as well as extremely lucrative payouts and expanded fishing opportunities for non-motorized fishing crafts.

The redfish/trout tournament will pay twenty places (based on a 100 boat field) plus Big Redfish, Big Trout and Junior Angler Awards. The winner will take home a Hobie Mirage Pro-Angler valued at $2399, 2nd place prize will be a Hobie Mirage Outback, valued at $1,749 and 3rd place a Hobie Quest, valued at $949.

The IFA Redfish and IFA Kayak Tours continues to draw redfish anglers from Texas to the Carolinas and beyond, offering anglers the opportunity to compete in six different divisions, each offering a three-event regular season. Low entry fees for the one-day, regular-season tournaments allows anglers to fish close to home and minimize expenses, while still being a part of a premier inshore, catch-and-release redfish tournament organization. Teams fishing any three of the IFA's 18 regular-season events are automatically qualified for a no-entry-fee championship event, pitting qualifiers from each of the six divisions for money and prize packages, as well as a shot at the coveted Cabela's Overall Divisional Team of the Year Award for the six regular-season division winners.
