Josh MacNaughton, a mechanic living in Crosby, Texas, enjoyed a great day of fishing the final IFA Kayak Tour's Texas Division tournament. Covering a square mile of water out of his Hobie kayak, MacNaughton used a Berkley Jerk Shad and caught a redfish, black drum, a short rat red and a speckled sea trout. His final 42 point score, a combination of the redfish's length and the trout's length, led to the win of the IFA Kayak Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing. The event was held September 12 and hosted by the Port Aransas Chamber of Commerce.

MacNaughton's redfish checked in at 26.75 inches and the trout measured 15.2.5 inches, winning him a Hobie Mirage Pro-Angler Kayak valued at $2,399 for his first-place finish. In addition, Neece netted $200 for the largest redfish caught during the catch-photograph-release tournament.

Second-place finisher Thomas Bulger, Jr., of Rockport, Texas, is a 15-year veteran of kayak tournaments. His 41.75 aggregate just missed the first place points and included a 22.5-inch redfish and a 19.25-inch speckled sea trout. Bulger caught four fish on Sunday. He was the first angler in on Sunday and let the event most of the afternoon. His second-place finish earned Bayard a Hobie Mirage Outback Kayak, valued at $1,749. Third-place finisher, Cling Barhgi (aggregate score of 38.5 inches) earned him a Hobie Quest Kayak, valued at $949.

Chris Weatherly won $200 for largest trout during the event for his 20.75-inch catch.

Each of the Cabela's IFA Redfish Tour 18 regular-season events will commence on Saturday with the newly formed IFA Kayak Fishing Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing contested the following day (Sundays). In its inaugural season, the IFA Kayak Fishing Tour Presented by Hobie will feature 18 regular-season, catch-photograph-release events across six different division (mirroring the IFA Redfish Tour format, location and scheduling) as well as extremely lucrative payouts and expanded fishing opportunities for non-motorized fishing crafts.

The redfish/trout tournament will pay twenty places (based on a 100 boat field) plus Big Redfish, Big Trout and Junior Angler Awards. The winner will take home a Hobie Mirage Pro-Angler valued at $2399, 2nd place prize will be a Hobie Mirage Outback, valued at $1,749 and 3rd place a Hobie Quest, valued at $949.

The IFA Redfish and IFA Kayak Tours continues to draw redfish anglers from Texas to the Carolinas and beyond, offering anglers the opportunity to compete in six different divisions, each offering a three-event regular season. Low entry fees for the one-day, regular-season tournaments allows anglers to fish close to home and minimize expenses, while still being a part of a premier inshore, catch-and-release redfish tournament organization. Teams fishing any three of the IFA's 18 regular-season events are automatically qualified for a no-entry-fee championship event, pitting qualifiers from each of the six divisions for money and prize packages, as well as a shot at the coveted Cabela's Overall Divisional Team of the Year Award for the six regular-season division winners.
