The world's largest tournament-fishing organization, Fishing League Worldwide, has made an announcement that they will be partnering with the nation's foremost organization supporting kayak bass anglers, Kayak Bass Fishing, LLC. The purpose of this partnership is to hold two kayak bass fishing tournaments in 2019.
While the terms of the agreement were not disclosed, they have revealed that the two planned events will be happening in conjunction with the FLW Tour events, namely the FLW Tour at Lake Chickamauga and the FLW Cup at Lake Hamilton. In order to offer the tour pros and kayak anglers separate fisheries for the competition, the events will be held at nearby fisheries. Operations for both events will be managed by KBF, while FLW will recognize the winners on their tour stage and feature them in their media outlets.
The Vice President of Operations at FLW, Dave Washburn, stated that their aim is to elevate the sport to new heights and that the tournaments will not just offer over 100 percent payouts through the curse of the season, but also the biggest media platform available to kayak anglers. Chad Hoover, KBF President, added that they are excited about the partnership and how it will take competitive kayak fishing to the next level while also offering better exposure to top anglers.
The entry fee for the first event, which will be hosted by Fish Dayton and Fish Lake Chickamauga, is $200 and takes place on May 4-5, 2019, on Nickajack Lake. From here the top 100 anglers will qualify for the second event, which is the FLW/KBF Cup in Hot Springs, Arkansas, which takes place on August 8-10, 2019. In addition, the top 20 of the 100 qualifiers will receive free entry instead of the $500 entry fee paid by the rest. The lake used for the second event will still be announced at a later date.
