The Tennessee Kayak Anglers held their Fall 2013 Tournament, their second ever, on Saturday, September 28, 2013 on Williamsport Lakes near Columbia, TN. Twenty five anglers participated in the tournament. There were plenty of anglers from Tennessee of course but also some from Georgia and Alabama. It was great to see young, not so young, ladies and gentlemen coming together to participate in this sport we all love.

All anglers fished hard and the fishing was quite tough. The combination of clear skies and moderate winds were a big challenge. In the end, it was Craig Dye who came out on top with a two-fish total of 35.75”. He was followed by Ron Champion with 34.25”, Jimmy DiTraglia with 33.5”, and Scott Fujimura with 32.5”. Scott also had the biggest fish of the day at 21.5”, caught on a 1/8ozRooster Tail on 6lb test line.

Craig Dye was able to come up with a pattern on a day when most others struggled. He caught his bass by slow rolling a spinnerbait with Colorado blades. This tournament was held at a complex with three lakes eligible to be fished. Craig started at the smallest lake, moved to a larger one, but moved back to where he started due to high winds and fishing pressure on the larger lake. For his win, Craig was awarded a $100 gift certificate to Hook 1 Kayak Fishing Gear, a Supernova Fishing Lights kayak kit, a Ram Mounts rod holder, YakAttack GearTracs, a Power Team Lures gift certificate, a gift certificate for SHO Baits, and a nice sum of cash.

This tournament was a great success, and by all accounts everyone had fun. Several anglers indicated this was their first tournament. At the end of the day, they were already looking forward to the next event. The Tennessee Kayak Anglers held two events in 2013. The plan for 2014 is to hold four events. Stay tuned to Yakangler.com for information on the 2014 tournament schedule for TKA.

This event would not have been possible without the help of sponsors. Tennessee Kayak Anglers would like to thank the following:

Hook 1 Kayak Fishing Gear
Ram Mounts
Power Team Lures
Supernova Fishing Lights
SHO Baits

TKA would also like to thank all the anglers who participated.

Thanks for the write up Big D! Guys in and around Tennessee will have lots of chances to fish competitively out of their Kayak. There are at least three groups running tournament trails with multiply tournaments scheduled!!!!! All in the great state of Tennessee. Keep your eyes and ears open!
