The Live Fall Tournament hosted by the Tennessee Kayak Anglers will be held on Saturday September 28, 2013 at Williamsport Lakes. This is a complex containing several lakes. A mandatory captains meeting will be held at 7:00am at the picnic shelter near the ramp on Shellcracker Lake. The tournament will start at 8:00am, with photo turn-in at 2:00pm at the picnic shelter near the ramp on Shellcracker Lake.

The lakes are located in a wildlife management area managed by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. There is an additional $5 daily permit fee required to fish these lakes. The entrance to the Lakes is located at approximately 3815 Williamsport Pike, Williamsport, TN 38487 in Maury County (northwest of Columbia).

There is no limit on the number of competitors. The tournament is open to all anglers, provided they meet the requirements and follow all rules and regulations stated. A complete listing of all rules, including eligible types of watercraft, can be found by following the following link - http://www.tennesseekayakanglers.com/TOURNAMENT_RULES.html. A Catch, Photo and Release format will be used for this event. More details on this format, including requirements for photos and measuring devices, can be found on the rules page. The best two fish caught by each angler will be used to determine the overall score. Black bass will be the only species of fish eligible to be scored (largemouth, smallmouth, spotted bass, and red eye bass.

Registration should be completed in advance via the online registration page on the Tennessee Kayak Anglers website if at all possible. There is a $20 entry fee along with an insurance fee (as low as $5 for single event membership in the American Canoe Association). A $5 day use fee is also required to fish Williamsport Lakes. This permit fee must be paid at the concession area located just inside the entrance to the area. Payment of the entry fee can be made through the registration page via PayPal or in cash at the captains meeting prior to the tournament (7:00am).

Cash payouts will be made to the top two finishers, with 80% of the total entry fees going to the payout. The remaining amount will go to TKA to cover administrative costs of hosting the tournament. We are also working on getting additional items to award as prizes. Be sure to check out the tournament rules page for additional details regarding this event. Spencer Jones

Although starting to kayak fish in the summer of 2012 Spencer has fished since he was a kid.  He fishes everything from small creeks to large lakes mainly targeting large and smallmouth bass, northerns, and anything he can convince to bite the hook.  When he is not on the water he teaches choir at a middle and high school and teaches private piano lessons, and composes music. Spencer also loves working out and helping folks get healthy and fit!  He lives in Neenah with his lovely wife, 2 dogs, and 4 cats.
