Huge Cat From The Ohio

Ricky Eiselt likes to fish for big catfish and he's good at it. But the Louisville man had his hands full Sunday afternoon Oct. 25 while fishing the Ohio River.

Eiselt and fishing buddy Chris Bottom launched from the Greenwood Dock and made a short run before they baited with cut shad and started fishing in about 30 feet of water. Eiselt soon had a strike. "It just laid the rod down," he said. "I knew it was a good fish. I've got good equipment because (big fish) are what I'm after." He removed the rod from the holder, cranked and pulled back on the rod to assure that the 8-0 circle hook was set. At first it wasn't much of a fight.  Then the fish  turned and 20 minutes later Eiselt was exhausted and the biggest blue catfish he'd ever seen was beside his boat. Bottom helped him net the monster and haul is on board. Eiselt had a 50 pound scale in the boat, which didn't come close to handling the fish.
He called another friend who met him at the dock with a heavier scale. Eiselt said the fish weighed 92.3 pounds. Read read the full story at courier-journal.com
