“YakAngler’s Inside and Out” - What is it? What does it mean? Why are we doing it?

These are the questions that came to mind when we started the long journey to develop this series. It all started at the Kayak Fishing Boondoggle™, when Adam Hayes, Mark Watanabe, and I discussed what we could do to promote the sport we all love and show why we love it so much.

It is not just the fish that we catch, or the places we go. It is not just the people we meet, or even the adventures. It is the lifestyle - the combination of all elements that make up this wonderful sport are what make it so unique and inspiring. I can try to explain this to someone that has not yet experienced the friendship, the thrill, the joy, and sometimes the heartbreak. However, it is not until that first trip, that first tournament, that first time hanging out with the people that make this sport what it is that they fully understand “Why?”

With this new series, it is our goal to really focus not on what brand you paddle or what product you use, but to show why you do it. What makes you paddle all day in a plastic boat to maybe catch a fish? Why do you go to the tournaments when the payout is so small? What could possibly make you want to fight thousands of mosquitos to camp with hundreds of other smelly kayak fisherman? These are the questions that we intend to answer. What makes us tick?

This sport is made up of people that are truly passionate about something and show it everyday, whether it be through fishing, running tournaments and events, or manufacturing products that make it possible. These are the things that we hope to convey over the next year, the people, the journeys, and the events that make up the lifestyle that we can’t seem to get enough of!

Join us on our journey this year as we cover this wonderful Sport “Inside and Out”!

I would truly like to thank my sponsors, and most importantly the individuals who have believed in me and given me the opportunity to chase my dream. It is my ambition to show others why this sport - and the people who make it what it is - are so important to me!

Without further ado, here is the first episode of “YakAngler’s Inside and Out”:

Jameson Redding

Jameson Redding grew up fishing and hunting in the foothills of NC, but later moved to the Florida Gulf Coast. His passion for fishing began to take shape as he spent the next 7 years learning how to catch reds and trout on the flats. It was this passion that ultimately led him to kayak fishing. After moving back to North Carolina he quickly realized that the best way to access secluded fishing locations was in fact from a kayak. This ignited his desire to bring the sport that he fell in love with to others. He has spent the last several years travelling the country producing media content for companies such as Jackson Kayak, Bending Branches, Nocqua Adventure Gear, and even helping run the River Bassin’ and College Kayak Fishing tournament trails. After working closely with other talented filmmakers Jameson realized his calling was to bring his passion to others through video. This eventually led to his latest partnership with YakAngler.com to produce and host YakAngler’s Inside and Out. Jameson can now be found at events, tournaments, and hanging out with other kayak fisherman across the country capturing the lifestyle of this wonderful sport. Great video! That was my first off shore tournament as well. I represented the only lady angler and like you, no sails. Did catch a shark!,

Persistence pays off, landed a big sail in June. Hope to see you in August
