Starting January1st of 2011 the IGFA began accepting applications for new All-Tackle Length Records.  This catch photo and release format is perfectly suited for us kayak anglers and hopefully we will see kayak fishing angler's leading in the records for the length category.

I was reminded of this new record category after reading Bill Howard’s article “Kayak Fishing And Sons”.  Bill, along with a couple other YakAngler’s, hit the water with their son’s in an attempt to catch some monster drum and hopefully get a record in the books.

Click here to view the current eligible species and minimum lengths for all-tackle length records.

All fish must be measure on the IGFA official measuring device, which can be purchased from their online store for $49.95.

Being a supporter of Catch and Release fishing, I think that this new All-Tackle Length category is a great addition to the IGFA world records.

I have one of these. It took a coupel of weeks to get it from IGFA. It is also bulky and cumbersome to deal with when trying to use; I would suggest practicing with it before a record attempt. Tight lines - chip

Do you know what retailers are authorized to accept All-Tackle Length records? From my understanding you need to find a retailer and submit your photos to them instead of the IGFA. Is this correct?

No according the the IFGA All Tackle Lenght application

Mail the application with photos and line sample by quickest means to: IGFA Fishing Hall Of Fame & Museum, 300 Gulf Stream Way, Dania Beach, FL 33004 USA

you would think that for $49.95 it would be a little more user friendly. Like maybe a hawg trough with a bungee already installed.
