Dobyns DX 744

Much like the DX 743, the DX 744 is a well balanced rod that can handle a multitude of jobs. It is rated for 1/4 ounce to 1 ounce rating, and these ratings feel accurate to me. Although it can do many things well, I tend to use mine for buzzbaits and spinnerbaits. It handles these jobs awesomely. I also have used it as a jig and senko rod in a pinch.

Like all Dobyns rods, this is not the lightest rod out there, but the babance makes it feel much lighter in hand. And I personally love the DX line colors! Check them out a www.dobynsrods.com when it is time to pick your next rod.

Dobyns DX 743

This is a review of the Dobyns top of the line series DX 743. This rod is very well balanced, sensitive, and in my opinion great looking. The rod is 7'4" long, 1/4 to 3/4 ounce and rated for 10-17 lb test. Zero tangle kigan guides with zirconium inserts. The rod comes in both split grip and full grip models and I prefer the split grip model myself.

I use this rod primarily for Senkos and light Texas rigs. It can handle other duties quite well also, but for me it is a great senko rod. Not as sensitive as a NRX, but about 200 dollars cheaper. I can feel every bit of the bottom when using for T rigs, and differentiate between bottom types. This rod is not the lightest around, but the balance of the rod makes it feel much lighter. I can literally throw this rod all day long and not feel fatigued in the least.

Dobyns rods has a great "no questions asked" $80 replacement policy on their Extreme rods. This comes in real handy when you break the tip of the rod in your ceiling fan (so I hear). When looking for your next rod do yourself a favor and check out Dobyns rods.
