Farmville Store

I have loved my Roam Dagger but was looking Kayak for my wife. We had both shopped on line, Craig's list, Amazon, Ebay and in stores. I came to the conclusion that Appomattox was the best place to buy.
We visited the store, service was amazing, no pressure and the inventory is surpassed by none. We found exactly what she wanted and walked out of there happy with price, and product. I will recommend to anyone!

My experience

Bought a Jackson big rig- Had Appotomax install the rudder prior to shipment. I ordered a werner paddle with a low angle blade, replaced it with a higher angle blade- they were very easy to work with in purchases and exchanges.

Appomattox River Company

This was my first Kayak, so I did a lot of internet shopping. After finding this store locally I stopped in.

The first time I did the usual, look and run tactic. Did not want to let them know I was unfamiliar with the products, so it was a grazing opportunity. They immediately caught on. I expected some high pressure sales pitch, but nope. They were telling me all about the sport and how great it was. They offered to let me sit/touch/play with what ever I wanted. They did not hover or hound, but let me have my time to discover. I told them I was not in a position to buy and they understood. Still they gave me my space to explore.

I ended up coming back several times with different questions. Each time they happily explained and gave great suggestions. They even remembered my name.

When I finally was ready to buy, they wrote me up a quote and gave me a great deal. I had to order the kayak, so I left empty handed, but very happy. Several days later the kayak came in. I have never loaded one before and had no idea what I needed. They could have sold me some fancy racks or other things that I assumed I needed, but instead kept it to a minimum. They told me most of what I wanted was not needed and really kept my costs down. I was very happy with the customer service and the price.

I could say this was the end of my experience, but it is not. A day later I realized that the cover on my 2014 Slayer was the older type without the grooved area for the track. I made one phone call to ask and got immediate service. They called Native and got me the correct cover sent to my house at no charge(apparently Native is still sending out the 2013 accessory covers on the 2014 boats).

This company is awesome to deal with. The customer service does not stop at the door. They continue to help and make suggestions on rigging and other items. No high pressure sales techniques or pushing you into products you don't really need. I highly recommend ARC for all your kayak needs. If you can, visit them in Hampton. You will not be disappointed.

Appomattox River Company

After deciding I wanted to make a switch from the Nucanoe to a more traditional style fishing kayak, my extensive search began.

As a resident of Connecticut I am somewhat limited in the number of shops that offer easy demos, and the majority of places are a good distance from me. It also doesn't help that I am a bit impetuous when it comes to making purchases as soon as possible.

After having narrowed down my options to a "local" shop who came highly recommended, Hook 1 and Appomattox, I emailed all three with my information and stressed the fact I am a serious buyer.

Hook 1 never returned my emails, which was very disappointing. I was keen on giving them my business because of their strong support to HOW, but alas, did not receive a return email.

My local shop was very helpful via email but unfortunately I was on a very shoestring type of budget and his quote on a Jackson Cuda 12 was just a little north of where I had to be.

This brings me to Appomattox River Company. I had been perusing their website with some interest, and their facebook page is outstanding.

After reading dozens of good articles about them, and while they had a great sale on 2013 Native Manta Ray 12's, I called them to buy one.

However....They sold the last one about an hour before my phone call and came across as genuinely sympathetic.

A day went by and I decided for the hell of it, to email my point of contact there and ask if they would honor the 2013 closeout price on a 2014. To my pleasant surprise, they said yes, and instructed me to give them a call in a few days for the shipment to come in.

I anxiously waited through the weekend and on Tuesday of the following week I called my POC there and placed the order on a 2014 Native Manta Ray 12 , with 2 Ram 2008 tubes and screwballs. Mind you, they sold me the 2014 at the 2013 closeout price.

To all the vendors out there, always take your business emails seriously, because a person like me may their purchase choice based on how you respond to the email.

Appomattox sent my beautiful kayak in tremendously durable shipping material and I couldn't be any happier with their service.

Thanks for reading this review.
