Great Reel for the Money!

This is a great reel and when you take into account it's $30 - it makes it even better. I use this reel on my Ultra Light and Light Action rods. It came with an extra spool so I can have Braid on one spool and Mono/Flouro on the other. I love being able to swap the spools out quickly instead of having to re-spool the line. I have hooked into Bass and Pike and they have really tested this reels drag. Much to my surprise it works very well and I really like the sound of it. It's loud so if you're recording video - you can pick it up easily. No complaints about the TRL20x model of the Trion!

Great for Ultra Light

I have this reel on my ultralite rod. Absolutely love it. Very smooth reel for the money. I bought it on the recommendation of a buddy that crappie fishes and have not been dissapointed. I have had it for two summers and haven't had a problem with it at all. If I remember right I gave around $45 dollars for it. I haven't used this reel in any of the other sizes but it the 4520GXB is a great reel for an ultralite.

Pfleuger GX-7 series reels

This is the series of freshwater reels that has captured me. Pfleuger has created several series of reels, and different models of each. I know people that buy one and love it, and think that they have to buy something different to change sizes. Not true.

The GX-7 series comes in 5 different sizes starting with the 4520GXB and progressing by 5's to the 4540GxB. This model (4520GXB) is the smallest of the GX-7 series and can be considered an ultra light. Best for the smallest is 4lb line. Best with the 4540GXB model is 10lb line. It is, as with the others, a graphite body giving it very light weight and durability. The bearings are stainless steel and there are 5 of them, with the other models all being 7 bearings. It's ratio is 5.2:1 and that is the norm for all of them.

The differences between the models are mainly the size of the line used and the retrieve rates. All of them come with a spare spool. This makes it easy if you're out on the lake to change lines if one isn't working, and I have done this before.

The drawback to this series though, is that the other series have begun add a rubberized strip vertically on the spool that keeps the line from spinning off, helping with the initial winding of it, and keeping it tight. I asked about this when buying my second model and they told me that Pflueger will soon start doing it with the Trion series too.

They are built to last and very smooth casting and reeling for a great cost. I have not tried the other series that Pflueger offers but I can tell you, that for this price it's great to have such a great reel.
