Abu Garcia Black Max

I purchased this reel to do some more freshwater fishing for Largemouth Bass. I have been pleasently surprised at the utlilty of this little reel. I have even fished in the saltwater with it heavily and it has held up well.

It is light and well balanced. It does lack the pitch braking system of the more expensive Revos. But at this price, I can sacrice a slight differece in casting distance.

It has become my goto reel for Bass and Speckled Trout. It has the perfect retrival rate for working Topwater and Shallow Crankbaits. I have hauled in quite a few hawgs with it too.

Black Max

I've had my Abu Black Max for three years now and it's been one of my favorite reels so far. It was my second baitcaster reel ever so it's a great reel if you're starting out and want a good, sturdy reel that will last you.

I've beat it to death for the three years I've had it and it's going into another with zero problems. I got it in a combo set up as well so the price for a good Abu rod and reel was something I couldn't pass up. Abu just makes a good product.

I'd recommend this reel to even the most season fisherman to give a shot.

6.4:1 Gear Ratio. Weights about 8oz so it feels good in the hand and not to heavy.

Abu Garcia Black Max

I saw the Abu Garcia Black Max reel as part of a combo during the grand opening of Cabela's Bowling Green, KY location. I did some research that night and found a lot of good comments on the reel. At 49.99 for the combo the price was tempting. I decided to go back to Cabela's and got the combo. I've spooled it with 20# braid and have used it a few times now. The rod and reel feel well balanced and are comfortable to handle and use. The braking system works well, just set it up for each lure change. I've used top water, crankbaits, soft plastics, and jigs with this combo and like the performance it has given me. Overall I'm very happy with the reel and will probably buy another one soon. I would prefer a one piece rod though. But, for the price I'm not complaining. I figure the rod was a freebie thrown in to entice price conscience anglers looking for a quality baitcasting outfit.

Features:
4+1 stainless steel bearing system
Machined-aluminum spool for strength without weight
Smooth Power Disk drag system
Duragear brass gear
MagTrax brake system for consistent performance
