rods rods
A new year often means new gear and St. Croix is ready to deliver just this with brand new multi-piece Avid Trek, Triumph Travel and Triumph Surf Travel Series rods.
According to Troy Lidner, a St. Croix pro, fishing-travel specialist, and FLW tournament bass pro, these rods features some of the best sensitivity and strenght for multi-piece rods on the market. Lidner added that typically the more sections a rod has the more sensitivity you would lose, but with the new Avid Trek series you would be hard pressed to notice the difference when comparing it side by side against a one-piece. He has also taken Triumph Travel rods with him on numerous trips around the world without any of them breaking in transit or while fishing.

The American-made Avid Trek three-piece travel rods makes use of St. Croix's Integrated Poly Curve mandrel technology along with premium, high-modulus SCIII carbon. The result is smooth power, improved casting accuracy and increased sensitivity. Ryan Teach, Product Manager at St. Croix, stated that the new three-piece Avid Trek series sacrifices nothing performance wise and would be hard to distinguish from premium quality one piece models if you disguised the ferrules.

George Kunkle, a St. Croix pro-sstaffer from Albertville, Alabama, agrees with Teach and expressed how impressed he was by how seamless the Avids are when put together. Although not normally a fan of multi-piece rods he admitted that the Avid Trek series feels like a one-piece product. Even while catching a 42-pound catfish on one of the heavier mdels he never heard a sound or felt any play where the segments came together, Kunkle said. Another St. Croix Pro, Justin Carter of Charleston, SC, agreed that for him the Avid Trek Series were a home run from the first minute he held them.
