The best example of this is their new fishing rain suit, that is not only designed for women, but was also designed by women. This was done to ensure that female anglers can stay safe, dry and comfortable when the weather takes a turn for the worst.
What makes the fishing rain suit, called the OS24JW, so impressive is that Gill used advanced composite waterproof fabric in the design process. This fabric features a combination of hydrophobic and hydrophilic technologies to protect the wearer from the elements while transporting moisture away from the skin. Gill also made sure to get plenty of feedback from their female angler test staff to ensure that the jacket excels at what it does.
The OS24JW was created from the ground up by a talent team of mostly female product designers before it underwent extensive testing. This resulted in a jacket with fully tapered seams, double adjustable cuffs for water resistance as well as warmth, and laminated moisture-management fabric technology. The high, fleece-lined cooler is designed to keep the wind out and it has a high-vis hood to improved safety and added visibility. The interior pockets of the jacket is warm and has enough space for cell phones, GPS devices and other small items. In addition, it features a 2-way zipper that is protected by a double storm guard, while YKK Aquaguard water resistant zips protect the hand warmer pockets.
Kudos to Gill for extending their product line for women and hopefully other fishing apparel companies will also begin to pay more attention to the growing number of female kayak anglers. The OS24JW is available in a wide variety of sizes and color options include, Red, Graphite, and White/Blue.
