PFD Make & Model

Astral Designs
MSRP ($):

Female kayak anglers often have trouble finding a comfortable PFD that offers all the features that they need out on the water. Astral Designs believe that they have the answer in the form of the Linda, which is a women’s life vest that is intended for fishing as well as recreational and tour usage. The Linda features Polypro webbing along with 200 denier high tenacity nylon for both the shell fabric and liner fabric. The design of the Linda is also ideally suited to the high seatbacks of recreational and fishing kayaks on the market.

Astral already has a reputation for creating PFD’s that are comfortable and with the Linda they have really done a superb job in this department. Thanks to the large arm openings your mobility when paddling or casting isn’t compromised in any way. It also means that the Linda doesn’t feel as hot when fishing on a sunny day. In addition, it has a Thin-Vent back panel, which keeps the upper back ventilated, while still providing middle back support. The tapered chest area is a big plus for women in terms of comfort, as is the sculpted foam side panels.

The Astral Linda features a YKK center zipper with self locking Vision teeth and has a large front pocket that can be used to store belongings that you want close at hand. Since this PFD uses durable polyethylene foam, it is able to provide high flotation while still remaining lightweight. In fact, it weighs only 1 lb. 0.3 oz, but offers 16 pounds of flotation.

For female kayak anglers who hate the bulky feel of most PFD’s or how restricting they can be, the Astral Linda is a great option. It ensures that you have plenty of maneuverability while remaining lightweight and comfortable. The breathability of the PFD is another big plus as is being able to dial in the fit by simply adjusting the webbing side straps and shoulder straps.
