For anglers who are more interested in durability than portability the Imagine Surf V2 Wizard Angler is worth a closer look. Unlike the inflatable offerings on the market, this stand up paddle board features a blow molded polyethylene construction, which gives you the same toughness as a kayak. This is good news for anglers who like to traverse rough terrain or frequently have to navigate rocky river sides. There is one downside to this however, as the sturdy construction also makes this paddle board a bit heavier than the competition, which can make it more cumbersome to move around.
Another area where this board excels is its storage space. In addition to a storage hatch on both ends of the board, it also features deck bungees along with a cargo bay. There’s even enough space to give yourself a break after standing as the board has a flip up seat back that is built-in. If you are brave enough, you can even take someone else along for the ride as there is ample space for two people.
Of course, the real question is how suitable the Wizard Angler is for fishing and once again it doesn’t disappoint. It has no less than four fishing rod mounts along with two rod holders, while two drag-anchor cleats round out the package. It is definitely not the fastest paddle board on the market, but will get you and your equipment where you want to be on the water without trouble. In addition, it handles well in choppy water and has great buoyancy. Ultimately, the Wizard Angler offers the kind of durability one would expect from a kayak, but at a much lower cost and with all the advantages of a stand up paddle board.
