Excellent Paddle

I've owned this paddle for a few years now. It is my only paddle so I use it every time I go out. Lakes, rivers, you name it. It's not a dirt cheap paddle but it's a real quality piece of equipment for someone looking to get the job done. Are there better paddles? Of course. I have not used any high end paddles for an extended period of time but I'm sure they are lighter and more durable. I have no complaints on this one though. I've wrenched it over, across, around all kinds of river rock, stumps, downed trees. If you're on a 150$ budget this is an easy decision. I would recommend this to any friend looking to get a better paddle without spending 400$.

Werner "Skagit Hooked" Paddle

I had been looking for a good name brand paddle without breaking the bank and the Skagit Hooked has outperformed all of my expectations. At $130.00 you are close to some really high end paddles and just a little bit above some of the lower end aluminum paddles so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was lucky enough to get mine from a forum member un-used for around $120.00

The moment I put it into my hands I felt the slightly ovaled shape instead of the usual round shape. I don't like to admit it but my hands aren't the biggest and this paddle felt much better in my hands while paddling. I know that will come in handy when I do some winter kayak fishing and gloves make it tough to grip a bigger paddle circumference.

I have never thought about getting an adjustable paddle because I have never felt the need to feather my paddle but after a day spent goofing around with the easy to use adjustable ferrule, I found two different positions that felt much better on my arms and wrists. It also gave me more consistent and meaningful strokes in the water.

When buying a paddle I knew that the cheaper you go the heavier you get. In the case of this attractively priced paddle you get the lighter swing weight without the expensive price tag! I really cannot say enough good things about this paddle and mine has endured gravel, mud, tree branches and just about everything else you could imagine and it still looks great.

Cheers to Werner to making a great paddle!
