The “Sinister Stick Bait” or “S.S.B.” is Slayer Inc.’s entry into the plastic stickbait market. The 4.25” bait is perfect for rigging on a jighead or wide-gap hook. Ten colors allow the angler to match conditions, and each bait is infused with Slayer’s own scent mix.

you’ve got to give these a try

In one of my previous articles, I mentioned a new lure from Slayer Inc.: the “S.S.B.” or “Sinister Stick Bait”. I received some from owner Chris Cenci the other day, and just like the “Sinister Swim Tail”, I love ‘em. I've been a big user of the gold Exude “Dart” for a long time. It's been my “go-to” lure. I have extreme confidence when I'm using that lure; I just know that I'm going to catch something. When you have a lure like that, you're apt to use it more often, and that will most likely result in more hook-ups. Well, I just found my new “go-to” lure.

Compared to the Exude Darts (My comparison is made against these lures, as I don’t know of any other lure company that makes a bait like this) the S.S.B. is a much more solid, heavier bait. This results in much longer casts, especially into a headwind. Measuring 4.25” and just over a quarter ounce, it’s made of a more durable plastic that is also infused with shrimp scent. The real beauty of this bait is the numerous ways it can be rigged. My favorite way is on Slayer’s 4/0, 1/8oz “XXX Penetrator” wide gap weedless hook. With a “twitch-twitch-pause” retrieve, its deadly on anything that feeds on the flats, especially my favorite quarry - redfish.

The S.S.B. can also be rigged straight with your favorite jig head, or as I like to do in the cooler winter months of winter: I’ll cut about a quarter of the lure off and rig it on a Slayer “Predator XXX” weedless jig head. During the cooler months the fish are keyed in on smaller food sources, so I always downsize my lure selection.

The Sinister Stick Bait is available in ten different colors. I’m sure one will quickly become one of your favorites.

I know what you are thinking: “It’s just a twitch bait. Can you really improve on such a simple bait?” The answer is a resounding “Yes!” If twitch baits are one of your lures of choice, you’ve got to give these a try. I think you’ll be a convert, like I am.

Until next time…

Sight Fishing Magic

The SSB has become my go to sight fishing bait as well as my weed less rigged bait. this is a very unique bait that works great for catching inshore species. It is very easy to cast a long distance and make a great presentation for those finicky redfish. One of the best all-around colors for this bait is the Pepper Death, it has caught fish in a variety of water clarity levels from crystal clear to very stained. regardless of what type of fishing you do this is a must have tool in the tackle box.
