The Yamamoto "Chikara Crankbait" has undergone hundreds of hours of research and development to outperform any crankbait in its class when it comes to moving through heavy cover. Whether you’re fishing shallow grass, heavy brush or riprap banks, the compact body of the Yamamoto Chikara Crankbait has the brawn to move through and around obstructions without losing its effectiveness. Also delivering an unbelievably bright flash, the Yamamoto Chikara Crankbait features a unique 3D holographic foiling that reflects light at multiple angles. Additionally, the Yamamoto Chikara Crankbait is also equipped with an internal rattle chamber that produces a distinct sound for maximum tonal agitation. Armed with Mustad Triple Grip Treble Hooks as well, the Yamamoto Chikara Crankbait has the power to get the job done when other crankbaits flounder. Chikara – Japanese for "Power"

Gary Yamamoto Chikara Crankbaits

We all know the name Gary Yamamoto because of his awesome Senko. I am sure there are some folks who don't know that Gary also makes other lures. This review will be for one of those other lures. The Gary Yamamoto Chikara Crankbait comes in 3 different sizes a 100, 200 and a 300 size. They run 4, 6, and 8 foot respectively. Like all Yamamoto products that I have used the fit, finish, and styling on this crankbait are top notch. It is not a silent crankbait, but has a rattle that is not totally obnoxious.

With a small profile and a weight of 1/2 ounce, this bait is castable even into a good wind. After watching the bait splash down and immediately float, it does not take much speed to get the bait's action to kick in. The 100 sized lure that I use has a wide wobble and runs true straight out of the box. I have thrown it into some pretty "snagworthy" stuff and the lure just deflects right off and runs true again. The lure comes with Mustad triple grip trebles and they are decent hooks.

Will this crankbait garner the attention that the Senko has gotten? Probably not, but with 16 available holographic colors, and decent hooks straight out of the box, it at least deserves a shot.
