Kayak enthusiasts who attended Outdoor Retailer 2017 that took place in Salt Lake City this past July should already be familiar with Malibu Pedal. Ocean Kayak announced the kayak during the event and left a lot of attendees eagerly anticipating the arrival of the Malibu Pedal. Well, the wait is finally over and the Ocean Kayak Malibu Pedal is now officially shipping.

In terms of technical specifications, the Malibu Pedal is a 12’ kayak that is 34.5” wide and weighs about 100 lbs with the seat and PDL Drive attached. It has a maximum capacity of 450 lbs and is available in four colors at a price of $2199. The Malibu Pedal is already garnering a lot of fans thanks to its performance on the water. The biggest selling point of the Malibu Pedal is its versatility as it was designed to accommodate any watery pursuit imaginable. It is lightweight, stable, very maneuverable and comes equipped with the PDL Drive System, which has a proven track record of excellence. It is an extremely efficient pedaling system that is capable of speeds in the region of 5.5 MPH, so you can get where you want to be quickly and without exerting yourself too much.

Comfort was clearly also a big priority for the design of the Malibu Pedal as the pedals are padded and the kayak comes complete with an Element Beach Seat. This seat is ergonomic, as well as quick drying and, with a total of three cup holders, you can always have your favorite beverage nearby. The quality of the Malibu Pedal should come as no surprise as it actually features a lot of components found on the Old Town Predator PDL. Since the Predator PDL was the 2016 ICAST Best Boat winner, it’s not a bad foundation to build from.

New owners of the Malibu Pedal can look forward to a kayak that has the PDL Drive System, slide track adjustable seating, a click seal hatch under the seat, pet-friendly bow tankwell with bungees, stern tankwell jump seat, an Element Beach Seat that has a mesh storage pocket underneath and 8-inch accessory tracks.
