They came, they unveiled, and they took home the ICAST 2014 Overall Best of Show. That’s right - Old Town (a division of Johnson Outdoors) stole the show with their new fishing kayak line, the “Predator XL”.

The Predator XL will be sold with three separate - and interchangeable - console options: the “Minn-Kota” console, “Utility” console, and the “Exo-Ridge” console.

Minn-Kota Console

The Minn-Kota Console is basically a 45 lb variable thrust crotch rocket. It features a complete hands-free navigation system that utilizes a 45 lb variable thrust Minn-Kota trolling motor built into the console.

It features:

     Complete hands-free navigation and trolling

     Steerable forward and reverse

     Saltwater grade with anodized/zinc-coated metals

A full 45lbs of thrust with variable speed control

     Stealth quiet

Digital maximizer for full day motoring

Quick-stand to avoid water hazards and debris

     Dual kill-switches for safety

     LED charge indicator

     USB charge ports

     Sonar mounting plate, battery/cable storage

     Storage compartment

Utility Console

This is an easily removable sonar electronics management console.

It features:

     Total sonar electronics management system

     Easily removed and stored

     Sonar-ready mounting plate

     Battery and cable storage

     Storage compartment

     Perfect theft protection

EXO-Ridge Console

This is a flush-mount console that creates an open deck for fly fishing, standing, or just those days when you want more open space in your kayak.

It features:

     Flush-mount open paddle deck

Wide open big game fishing 600lb cockpit capacity

Exo-Ridge design for confident standing casts

We had a chance to catch up with David from Old Town at ICAST. Check out the Predator XL walk through, and the answers to your questions.
