Scotty Gear-Head Track Adapter

If you blinked at Outdoor Retailer “Summer Market” show in Salt Lake City, you could have easily missed this new product from Scotty. The “438 Gear-Head Track Adapter” was made to interface with the YakAttack “GearTrac” system, whether you use the large GT175 or the new slender GT090 tracks.

It is probably safe to say that if kayak anglers that have not embraced the latest offerings from YakAttack, it is because of their commitment to or investment in Scotty rod holders, camera mounts and the like. Prior to the Gear-Head, there wasn’t an easy way to attach Scotty accessories to the YakAttack GearTrac. The Gear-Head Track Adapter attaches to the GearTracs and MightyMounts just as easily as the Screwball counterparts. Scotty’s quick release system makes it easy to remove or change rod holders with just a twist of the Gear-Head Track Adapter. Fortunately that twist is in a clock-wise rotation, so you won’t be loosening the Gear-Head from the rails.

Any Scotty post mount will attach to the Gear-Head Track Adapter: rod holders, camera mounts, extensions, anchor systems, and downriggers too. The Scotty 438 Gear-Head Track Adapter is expected on the market soon.

That is great news. Yak Attack has awesome gear and it being adaptable with Scotty is very cool. It opens up a whole new set of ideas for me. I also am happy that Yak Attack is growing, because they are nice folks and passionate about quality.

Do you know if this also fits the WS SlideTrax systems? I think it is the same size as the YakAttack gear Trac, but not certain.

This is a cut and paste from the Scotty website.

The Scotty 438 Gear-Head Track Adapter quickly slides into place and locks down your post mounted Scotty rod holders and accessories. Similar to the revolutionary Scotty 428 Gear-Head, this system allows you to quickly change rod holder positions with a simple “twist”. You can use your favorite, fully adjustable Scotty rod holder and adjust it to any vertical or horizontal position without having to drill permanent mounting holes. Designed to fit all kayak track systems, this compact product is a must for serious kayak anglers.

When I got my 3 Model 438's directly from Scotty, I tried them on both the YakAttack GearTracs and the W/S Tarpon SlideTrax and they work perfectly!! Great solution...
