We fish Long Run weekly. The water is clear, and at the dam you can find 20’ depths where fish will hold in the summer heat. The lake is full of smaller, easy-to-catch bass; as we were leaving, my six-year-old said “Daddy, I might be a pro bass fishing girl - I caught more than you!”. The park closes at 10pm, creating an opportunity for night fishing without worrying about boaters.
My preferred technique is to dropshot 4” Roboworms, and second choice is to Texas rig 6” Culprit worms in either watermelon red flake or tomato color. Look for the downed tree in the middle, just out in front of the ramp - I usually can pick up a three pounder there.
There are two pavilions with grills and multiple grill locations with picnic tables, making this a great place for a family outing. We like to get on the water early, then the wife brings lunch and the kiddos take the yaks out while we eat.
