March Madness isn’t the only hot thing happening at the beginning of March - the largest paddling consumer expo in the world took place in Madison Wisconsin. Rutabaga paddlesports of Madison put on their annual event drawing in thousands of people all across the country.

The expo covers over 250,000 square feet of kayaks, canoes and stand up paddleboards and also offered over 140 seminars and clinics. This consumer expo is one of the few that also allows consumers through the doors to meet with the owners and reps from big name companies. YakAngler’s Spencer Jones was able to attend and did a short Jonesin’ for Expo’s LIVE Mini-series.  The goal - to bring you this amazing event through a video series to those who couldn't make it in person.  If you didn’t catch it live, no worries, Spencer uploaded the video to YouTube to share with you all.  You can check them out below.  Enjoy!

Opening of Canoecopia

Spencer talks us through the opening and shows us the crowds waiting to go in. There were literally thousands of people at the expo within the first opening hour, eager to see what the world's largest paddling expo had in store for them.

Jackson Booth

An overall impression of the Jackson booth, which had some nice coolers, the Kilroy and Big Rig on display.  Spencer also shows us the new MayFly inside and out.  This kayak was designed specifically for flyfishing.

Kayaks and more kayaks with a little Tenkara mixed in

A walk-through some of the other booths, looking at the Pescador Pilot up close and personal, along with great kayaks from the Wilderness booth, such as the Atak with its new Helix drive and many many more.

Bending Branches fun

Visiting the Bending Branches booth, looking at some great paddles.

Spencer Jones

Although starting to kayak fish in the summer of 2012 Spencer has fished since he was a kid.  He fishes everything from small creeks to large lakes mainly targeting large and smallmouth bass, northerns, and anything he can convince to bite the hook.  When he is not on the water he teaches choir at a middle and high school and teaches private piano lessons, and composes music. Spencer also loves working out and helping folks get healthy and fit!  He lives in Neenah with his lovely wife, 2 dogs, and 4 cats.

Great show. I look forward to it every year. Unfortunately, I could only make it there Friday night this year. Sorry I missed you.
