If you need an excuse to hang out, camp, and fish with hundreds of other kayak anglers (aka Boondoggle), how does a brand new Native Watercraft “Ultimate FX 12” sound?

All registered attendees at the Columbus Day Kayak Fishing Boondoggle™ at KARS Park can participate in the “Beat Woody Rock-Paper-Scissors” challenge. The last one standing will walk away with a new Ultimate FX 12 fishing kayak from Native Watercraft!

Woody Callaway of Native Watercraft said this the other day on Facebook:

“I on the other hand will be handing out PBR's and handling the most professional Rock, Paper, Scissors (Ro - Sham -Bo) contest in the world for an Ultimate FX 12, retail value $1,449. Can you say BOONDOGGLE!!!”

If you haven't been to the last couple of Boondoggles, this started at the Presidents Day 2013 Boondoggle at KARS Park. Woody told me he wanted to give a boat away to someone for free, no strings attached, and that he wanted everyone to play Ro – Sham – Bo for it. With no idea how the whole process would work or how it would turn out, we let Woody take the stage.

Imagine a Wiggles concert - but instead of the Wiggles you have one 6’4” 260lb hard-core kayaker that SUP’d ninety miles of class III-IV rapids on the Salmon River, and loves PBR; and instead of innocent kids you have 300+ (many of them bearded) rowdy kayak anglers, all vying for a sweet fishing kayak… Okay, it was really nothing like a Wiggles concert, but you get the idea.

Our very own Brandon Griffis won the kayak that night.

Watching how much fun the crowd had trying to beat Woody at that first Ro – Sham – Bo, we knew this had to become a Boondoggle tradition. If you are planning on attending the Kayak Fishing Boondoggle™ this October at KARS Park, Merritt Island, FL, make sure to register for the event at www.kayakfishingboondoggle.com. Event tickets are free, but we encourage everyone to camp out for the entire weekend. There will be vendors Friday and Saturday from 2-9pm, a kids’ zone Saturday, BBQ dinner and a raffle to benefit Heroes on the Water (HOW) Saturday night. You don’t want to miss what many have called the “Woodstock of Kayak Fishing”.
