Tonight we fly out to Salt Lake City, Utah for the 2014 Outdoor Retailer (OR) Summer Market expo. OR is one of the, if not the largest expos for everything outdoors. We’ll be there for almost a full week and will do our best to bring you the latest and greatest the outdoor/paddling industry has to offer.

Just like ICAST last month, we want you help. Let us know what questions you want us to ask the manufacturers and let us know which boats you want us to take a closer look at on the water. Post your feedback in the comments below and try to use this format.

Example Demo: (Joe Smith - Wilderness Systems - Thresher) How stable is it on the water?

Example Question: (Joe Smith - Wilderness Systems - Thresher) When will the kayak be available?

If you are using the Facebook Comments be sure to also include an @yakangler tag to your comment. We’ll do our best to get everyone’s questions answered and boats demoed. Below you will find our full schedule for the weeks events.

Tuesday, August 5

Open Air Demo

Which boats do you want us to demo and get some on the water footage from; the Jackson Kayak Kraken, Viking Kayaks Profish Reload, Old Town Predator XL, or Hobie Pro Angler 17 Tandem... There are too many to list, so take a look at the full list of manufacturers that will be at the Open Air Demo.

Pretty sure if they are not on the list they are not going to be there. I know for sure Native is not attending OR this year. Woody confirmed this at ICAST last month. We'll get that Predator XL footage for ya!

It looks like Old Town is actually releasing a new boat in addition to the XL. They are hyping it up on FB. The more I think about it though its probably not a fishing kayak or they would have unveiled it at ICAST.

(Rob Smith - Viking Kayaks - Profish Reload) I'd like you guys to get some one the water time with this and let us know how it performs.

(Rob Smith - Diablo - Any new kayaks) I'd like you guys to get some one the water time with any new boats they have and let us know how it performs.

(Rob Smith - Diablo) These guys see like they can party, please ask them what their stance is on the legalization of marijuana!

Rob Cade - For Wilderness Systems, How does the new lawn chair compare with High Seat on a Ride from a paddling comfort and efficiency perspective? Also, When are you coming out with a Wilderness pedal system?

How does the new Pro Angler 17 handle charging out through the surf, then open (choppy) water in the ocean, as well as coming back in with the waves? Seats are set higher = less stability? Also, when does Hobie plan to come out with a cradle set and hardware kit specifically for storage and trailering of the PA17 (compatible with the Malone MicroSport trailer!), and a cart or dolly for transport?

Jackson Kayak - How does the Kraken compare to the Cuda?

Also, any additions or details to the stock BigRig (not the pro), and when are the 2015 colors being released?

Any first impressions on the Coosa HD from the open air demo? Any ideas on when the HD might be available?

I really liked the new Coosa HD. Tracked better with the seat forward and much more stable. Looking forward to getting it. It is still in the Prototype mode and I expect it before the end of the year. There will be more in our recap aritcle

The Cuda is a great kayak and has served me well for years. However they made most of the changes I would have made to the Cuda to make it better in big water (lakes or oceans) as well as if you want to cover lots of miles.

The Colors should be out soon but one is Sunrise (red/yellow) that you see in the Kraken pictures.

The only changes are the camo color, the duck blind, and decoy bag. Jackson is shooting for September for the release.
