It’s that time of year again for kayak anglers to have their voices heard in the third annual Kayak Angler's Choice Awards (KACA)”. This year, organizers YakAngler and Kayak Fishing Radio have decided to slim down the categories and change the voting process.

Voting will now be in a weekly elimination format. Week one of voting will have the top thirty nominees from each category competing for fifteen spots. Week two of voting will narrow down the fifteen nominees to five. Week three will be our final week of voting, with the top five nominees battling to be the Kayak Angler's Choice Awards winner. Organizers hope this new format will even out the playing field for nominees and keep the KACA exciting.

The categories for 2013 will be:

  • Kayak Angler
  • Kayak
  • Kayak Angling Forum
  • Kayak Angling Journal/Magazine
  • Most Innovative Kayak Angling Product (Non Kayak)
  • Kayak Angling Retailer/Outfitter/Bait Shop
  • Kayak Angling Location
  • Kayak Angling Online Video
  • Kayak Angling Blog/Blogger

September, organizers will begin taking nominations and leave the polls open for four weeks. All nominations will be tallied, and the top 30 nominations per category will compete for the KACA winner’s seal. Listen to Kayak Fishing Radio this week for the official poll opening date.

    • Try using a spider hitch in the braid first then tie the leader onto it. Doubles the size of the braid in the knot to the leader.
