I've been looking for new water to explore and have been looking at the Montgomery Bell State Park in Middle Tennessee. Has anyone has been out there? Would it be worth the hour drive I will have to make? And what are some other good areas to explore in the Middle Tennessee area? I've been on Percy Priest, Old Hickory, and a few areas of the Stones River.

All three lakes in the state park are decent and the fishing the park is a nice option when the rivers are all blown out.
Lake Woodhaven is the best of the three IMO.

Check out Barren Fork (a tributary of the Collins river) in McMinnvile. You can put in at the nearby park and Smooth Rapids outfitters will pick you (and your boat) up downstream (an 8.5 mile paddle) at the VFW for $10. It's really a beautiful paddle and water levels are good right now. I live in Murfreesboro and have done this trip twice. Give it a try!
