I am vacationing at Carolina Beach next week, I will be bringing my kayak down to the area for the first time. I hope to fish around Fort Fisher at the Basin, does anyone have any local advice for a traveling Yak Angler. If anyone around the area would like to get together and fish let me know.

I only got on the water twice this past week. I fished in the Basin at Fort Fisher both days, the first day I didn't hook up on anything. When I went back on the second trip a local Kayak fishing guide was at the ramp he gave me a little advice on where to paddle back into some of the creeks. I did catch one flounder only about 11 inches, I also had a sea turtle come up right beside my kayak. I do plan on going back for a kayak fishing trip with some friends the area looks to have a lot of potential for kayak fishing.

Headed there next week, bringing my girls without kayak. I could use any tips via PM on where and how to get on flounder or crabs

Fort Fisher and the Carolina Beach State Park are probably your best bets for bank fishing. You can stop by Island Tackle and buy live bait or GULP. If you have a cast net baitfish are fairly easy to catch on your own. Most people I've seen fishing from the bank have the best luck with live bait on carolina rigs. If you fish Fort Fisher try along the long rock walkway or if at the State Park go over to the Snow's Cut side. Good luck and let us know how you do.
