This is a roll call for anyone living in Mississippi. I used to live in Tupelo, MS but have since moved to South Florida. I do go back and visit my folks who still live up there. Would be nice if we had some folks that I could meet up with and fish while visiting.

Hey, I live about an hour north of Tupelo and am very familiar with Elvis Presley lake and Trace state park. Both are great fishing holes. I've done a good bit of water skiing in Elvis but for fishing I really like Wall Doxey state park. I just joined the forum and do not yet own a kayak. Right now I'm learning and shopping.

NMSYak, I'm in the same boat as you as far as learning and shopping. I live in Oxford and have to go to the coast at least 3 times and month and am getting tired of my hotel room. Have you decided on a yak yet? I need to decide on something small, that is still good for saltwater, wide to stand and fish in, and preferably light. I will have to use my work truck and transport will have to be done on top of the roof somehow so I can access my bed. I think I have it narrowed down to a Wilderness Ride 115x, Jackson Cruise and accessorize myself, and would really like to try either one of the Feel Free Lure models.

I live in Tupelo too. New to the forum. I don't have a kayak yet, but shopping for one. We camp a lot at Piney Grove on Bay Springs, and of course there are all of the small lakes right around Tupelo. Looks like everyone on the forum is close to Tupelo. Maybe we need a North MS kayak fishing club.

"Where are all the MS Kayak anglers?"

I'm not sure. I don't see a lot out on the lakes or the forums, at least not up in North Mississippi. It would be nice to have a group of yakers to do some group outings. It would be safer and more fun... it that is possible.

You can't get much more on the coast than Waveland! Our family spent some time at Buccaneer State Park last year on our way to New Orleans. We had some business in N.O. but my son had wanted to check out the State Park, so we spent about a week there and kinda feel like we know the area. Are you primarily a salt water yaker or freshwater? The water appeared pretty dirty when we were there, but somewhat cleaner the closer we got to Biloxi.

I fish both, we just spent the weekend at the park camping with friends. My backyard is fresh water bayou most of the year, but in the fall salinity goes up and we get the occasional red and spec. Bayou Caddy that runs next to Silver Slipper casino is good for reds and spec most all year around.
