My Dad, my cousin, and myself are planning a river float soon. The weather here in Central Kentucky has been mostly wet and unpredictable. Were planning in camping a couple nights along with some fishing but if the weather goes as the extended forecast says then the rivers might be a little swollen. So I need some help with a plan b. We will stay at a campground on a lake and fish. I'd like to find a spot with a campsite on the lake where we can hit the water without a ramp. Anyone have any suggestions they are willing to share? Thanks in advance!

Laurel lake had a really cool boat - in campground. Pull your yaks right up on a little sandy/pebbly shore. The pic I attached is where we parked and that's Adam! lol. I'm going to post another so you can see the barge we hauled all of our "necessities" on!

That is a barge for sure, lol. Never been to Laurel, I'm going to look into it. Thanks!

Green River Lake is good. You can camp at Lone Valley and drag your kayak to your camp site if you are planning on camping primitive.

That spot is on the list. I have been there before and it is a nice lake.

If you want to get a little further away Salt Lick Creek Campgrounds on the Cumberland River in Gainsboro Tennessee is a straight shot down from Bardstown and the water is accessible from the campground spots.

Some of the Tennessee kayak guys are having an event there later this summer.

These rivers being up has sure put a damper on our plans. My youngest boy wanted to do an over night camping\fishing trip for his birthday on May 21 weekend. I sure hope it gets lined out by then. It ain't looking good!!!!
