I know I've seen some people with OK Prowler Tridents on here but I was surprised not to see any reviews on it... anyone have one and can give me their opinions on it, I'm in the market for a new yak!

The Nothing Don't you have one?

Isaac does have one. I have a T13. I love it but not sure that it would be my first choice anymore for the style of fishing that I do.

You're fishing salt, correct? Large bodies of water?

IMO its is very well though out for surf launches.

Aye, I do! I'll have to put some thought into a review.

I did write up a comparison between the T11 and T15 last year.

I have been paddling an Ocean Kayak Prowler Trident 15 for 2 years. I have 11 kayaks. I have a Malibu extreme, 3 other models of Ocean Kayaks and a wilderness. I have paddled some Hobie kayaks too. I fish off the beach mostly in the summer and fish bays during the rest of the year. I guide eco-tours in everything from little tiny creeks all the way out to the beach. If you are going to be in open water it is the bomb. If you are going to paddle creeks, I would suggest something shorter. I will occasionally let some of my larger customers paddle mine, just for comfort reasons, and the fact that the weight capacity is larger. I have noticed that most of the taller guys ( over 6') dont look reall comfortable with the leg room. Its a surprisingly short cockpit i guess. I am 5'9" and my legs are quite comfortable in it.
The T-15 tracks well, it handles the rolling waves well, very stable ( i can stand up fairly easily if I need to) It is not a fast ride, and I am often behind my customers in some of the smaller kayaks, but I am not about speed, so I don't mind.
I hope that this info has been helpful.

I like my malibu extreme, but it is such a low profile, that if you get any significant wave action it gets a little wet. but it is a good ride. The t-15 is a good dry ride!

I've never understood the "dry ride" comments from any kayak review. Its a kayak, and your 2" from water. You're gonna get wet - especially when you take 5' rollers to the face....

The Trident 15 is a decently fast kayak, but its not going to win any races. From what I've gathered, I would have no problem keeping up with Hobie guys, as they report back saying their cruising and burst speeds are the same as my own. I spend most of my time fishing alone.

The T15 is also a lot of kayak. With the rudder kit its 16' long, making it one of the longest SOT made. It's also pretty heavy. I reckon mine weighs in around 80# when I put it on my car. The side carry handles are well positioned right in the middle of the kayak for ease of lifting, and I've got no problems car topping it on my own.

I've personally not been comfortable standing up in my T15 yet, but I also don't have much need. I find my T11 to be much more stable and if I'm going to be standing, I'll usually be in that kayak anyways.

I've been accused of taking too much gear with me. This isn't because I can fit all my freshwater & saltwater gear, and a light camping setup on the Trident 15. I think it paddles better with some weight on the kayak.

Just a few thoughts from 4am to go over... i'll have some more later...

The Nothing, I agree with the "Dry Ride" Its a relative term. you WILL get wet if you are kayaking.

I was talking to some of the Ocean Kayak Pro Team members yesterday at a show and they were saying similar stuff about the new Ultra and T15. Even the guys going off shore in the North East were using the T13 or the Torque. They felt that the longer ones had a lot of "hull slap" and were not as stable until they weighted them down, and then they had to paddle around the extra weight. Luckily I don't have to worry about weighing down a kayak as I carry enough built in ballast.

I agree with both of you as far as the "Dry Ride" is concerned.
