I'd like to get everyons input on what they think is the best spinning reel for saltwater under $100. Please don't say pony up for a Shimano Stella or Stradic. I'm broke yo! :chug:

i LOVE Abu Garcia Cardinals. I couldn't tell you how many I have, but they range from ultralight with 4# test, to giant saltwater surf casters. They're inexpensive, easy to care, and i've never had a failure.

I have 3 Shimano Symetre's from 1000-4000 and have never had any issues with them. At Bass Pro they are $99.99 so that's under your $100 price point.... Was your price point including tax?

I have been really impressed with the Penn Fierce Reels. I have 4 of them now 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000. I have caught 40"+ stripers on the 5000 and a 38" on the 4000. for under $60 I really like them. They are metal and solid when you hook a big fish. The drag is also very nice. Not as nice as a $200 reel but better then most $100 reels I've used.

Like you I'm on a limited budget as well...I really like the Cabela's Salt Striker. They come in several sizes and in two different models. One model has a bait runner option and the other is just the standard reel.

Academy has some $50 Shimano combos that have been working great for me.

I have to agree with Mark on the Shimano Symetre.

I love my Shimano Symetre. My local fishing store discounts to $80 around Christmas. My Buddy is a guide and he loves the Penn Battle.

The Penn Battle is really nice, but to be honest the most reliable reels that I have are the Shimano Sienna series and the Shimano Sonora series. Inexpensive and reliable.
