I just finished the "first phase" of my kayak cart tow bar. I needed a solid connection between myself and the yak while carting on the trail to the launch site. It's fairly steep with ruts, rocks and exposed root systems which made traversing it a real PITA. This is what I came up with.....

I used a Yak Attack 8" gear track, made an aluminum backing plate, 1" schedule 40 aluminum pipe , some D handles and assorted fasteners. I did a test run with it going over 4x4's and assorted timber in the barnyard. It worked a charm. So far so good. I'll cap the end of the aluminum pipe and when everything else has been tweaked I'll powder coat it...

When we get to the launch site I'll remove it and lock it up with our carts.....

Looks like it'll get the job done! Good work! When you get to the water and take the handle off, you can use the mount for a camera or light or something! :bravo:

Thanks.... I used it today and it worked quite well. I had so much more control while descending the trail. It made it heaps easier and at this stage of the game, anything I can do to make it easier on my old bones is a big plus....
Tomorrow I hope to powder coat it at work....
