What do you all recommend for length and actions of rods for bass fishing out of a kayak? Mostly throwing crankbaits and soft plastics.
I'm throwing a 6'6" medium action spinning and a 6'6" medium heavy bait caster. Both work well but I'm wondering if I should go longer.
Thanks for any advice.

I use mostly 7' rods, medium or medium heavy fast action, but the heaviest lure I throw is a Spook or Mirrodyne.I throw a lot of soft plastics un-weighted or weighted with 1/8, 3/16/and sometimes 1/4 oz..

Went to 7' rods form 6'6" long ago.. but those rods you have will work fine.

My inshore and bass rods are the same no matter if I'm walking banks, fishing form a boat, or canoe.sup, kayak

I'm using mostly 6'6-7'0 medium action spinning gear. Will be getting a 7-7'6 medium heavy bait caster this weekend for heavier lures. I started using 12" worms on a 3/8 Texas rig trying for bigger bass and it's to heavy for the spinner right now. I'm really liking the Lews gear right now. The prices on some of the gear out these days is crazy.

I’m throwing everything from 6’ UL spinning rods to 8’H musky rods, with an occasional 9’ fly rod for a change of pace. I’m able to stand in my SOT boat, though.

7' to 7'6" for me the action depends on the lure thrown...moderate action for crank baits, fast action for plastics and MH,M, or Heavy depending on the size of the lure.

I have 7" and 6'6" foot rods. I got the American Hero 6'10" rod on sale. I am leaning towards that size now. It's long enough to cast crankbaits but short enough for pitching and flipping in the cattails. I used my 7'6" rod one time and I felt it was too long for kayak fishing. Try the 6'10" or 6'9" rods.

The 6'10" American Hero MH rod combo has been a great set up for me. I can pretty much say it's an all around rod for most lures. It's not too short and not too long. Can throw a jib, crankbait, spinnerbait and texas rig a craw for pitching and flipping. This rod set up can do it all. Give it a try.
